Dave Turner has lined up an interesting topic concerning an environmental project/group very close to home.  The Cannon River Watershed Partnership’s (CRWP) mission is to engage people in protecting and improving the water quality and natural systems of the Cannon River watershed. CRWP envisions a healthy watershed with clean water that is fishable, swimmable, and drinkable.  See www.crwp.net for more info.

Annual Summer "Steak-Fry/Picnic" EVENING MEETING - All Rotarians and their families are invited to attend the annual steak fry/picnic at the Izaac Walton clubhouse, starting at 6 p.m. NO NOON MEETING at St. James Hotel.

RW Rotary STRIVE Program - Now in its third year, the STRIVE program, sponsored and run by the Red Wing Rotary Club will be getting underway at the Red Wing High School - a mentoring program for students that meets monthly,   Clare Pavelka will be discussing details of the program, what the expectations and requirements are for mentors and how you can be a part of the this great program that offers high school students a chance at scholarships and an all-around better attitude toward school and their futures!

Our very own Meg Walch has taken on a new adventure as a fitness coach for Team Beach Body.  Wondering what that’s all about?  Come to Tuesday’s meeting to find out!  She’ll give us the scoop on this “beach body” thing and how we can get one!  No need to bring or wear any beach attire for the meeting.

River City Days Parade Prep @ Pottery Pond noon meeting/picnic - Enjoy lunch outside at the Pottery Pond!  Come and find out what your duties are for the parade on Sunday and what else Lynette and Scott need help with.  EVERYONE is responsible for helping at our BIGGEST community event of the year, the River City Day's Parade.

It's that time of year again!  Be sure not to miss this meeting, as we meet the 2010 Miss RW Candidates for the upcoming Red Wing River City Day's.  Andrea Hanson, Miss RW coordinator will introduce us to the lovely ladies, as they make one of their first public appearances.  It's a great time to get to know them and show your support!

Today we have the pleasure of having DG Craig Leiser as our esteemed guest.  An excellent speaker and motivator, come find out what his plans and goals are for our district, as he leads us into the new Rotary year.  Craig says, "I look forward with eager anticipation to learn more about Rotary, its programs and activities. I welcome the opportunity to serve you as Rotarians and the clubs to which you belong in the spirit of leaders past, present and future. I plan on making many more friends and getting very involved in developing challenging and rewarding individual, club, district and international projects and programs. Along the way I hope to meet each Rotarian in our district and share thoughts, ideas and plans about what we can do to make our world better."

Live Healthy Red Wing strives to make it easier for all residents to eat healthier and get physically active every day.  It is a collaborate with organizations to influence local policies and lead environmental changes that will make our community a healthier place to live - - now and in the future.  Live Healthy Red Wing is working on a core set of initiatives.  Some are new; others complement or expand current community endeavors.  Michelle Leise, Project Coordinator, Pam Horlitz, Co-Coach and David Anderson, Co-Coach will share what is happening and how Rotarians can help.

Our very own member, Jerry Borgen has written his first book!  Come find out more about Jerry and his brother Tom and the fun they had both winter and summer growing up in a neighborhood grocery store and summers at Wacouta with their grandparents.  Jerry also touches upon his grandfather and the importance he had in the history of Ski Jumping both nationally and locally.   "It is another attempt to preserve the history of the wonderful sport of ski jumping.    Red Wing is the birthplace of ski jumping in America," Jerry Borgen.

We will be visited by Bob Dennistoun, an employee of Hannon Security Services, Inc. a regional security company based in Bloomington, but all of his time is donated by Hannon to help Crime Stoppers of MN, where his job is as its Executive Director.  Today he will be speaking about The Alternative to Silence, provided by Crime Stoppers of MN, which helps to solve crime and create safer communities.

Judy Graf, a local committee member of Red Wing's Memory Walk, will be visiting our club to discuss the up coming "Memory Walk"  which will be held in Red Wing on Oct. 9
Memory Walk® is the Alzheimer's Association’s national signature event to help those coping with Alzheimer's and related diseases. Since 1989, the nation's largest event supporting Alzheimer's care and support services has raised more than $260 million
