On Aug. 28, we honored our departed members by dedicating trees in their honor at Pottery Pond. Familes, friends, and club members planted two new trees and placed plaques on all the trees commemorating the departed. Those remembered include Gordy Haugen, Dennis Betcher, Lyle Warrington, Betty Jo Finholm, and Nancy Green.
On Aug. 24 we held our annual steak fry at the Izaak Walton clubhouse to celebrate our club's many efforts, especially the recent River City Days Parade and Golf Classic.
On Aug. 19 we held our annual kids' fishing contest. More than 40 kids caught more than 400 fish as they tried to catch "the big one". Winners were:
Isaac Nelson (age 10) - biggest fish
Logan Sammon (age 10) - first fish
Allexis Bohmbach (age 6) and Adam Dilks (age 5) - tie
Most fish - Reese Nystuen (age 6)
Dan Spence from the Lake City DNR office was on hand to help kids with their bait and hooks and to talk about the pond and the kinds of fish stocked in it.
Even our new Youth Exchange Student Gosia, from Poland, caught a fish. |
